SMART Goal

In your first session we will look at your SMART Goal, to help you understand a bit more about these we have done a Q&A with Jerry so you know what to expect.

  • What are SMART goals?

    Specific (simple, sensible, significant).

    Measurable (meaningful, motivating).

    Achievable (agreed, attainable).

Relevant (reasonable, realistic and resourced, results-based).

Time bound (time-based, time limited, time/cost limited, timely, time-sensitive).

  •  Why it important to break them down?

Your goal should be clear and specific, otherwise you won't be able to focus your efforts or feel truly motivated to achieve it.

  • Should we have multiple goals or just one?

One main goal, broken down into mini/bitesize goals. Never have more than one main goal at any one time, though.

  •  Do they relate to my personal life or career goals?

Either; your main goal is just that. Your main objective. The one thing you are truly focused on.

  •  Will my therapist help me work out my SMART goal?

Your therapist will help you work out your SMART goal, they will ask a series of questions and challenge your belief-system in order for you to identify your SMART goal for yourself.

If you would like to discuss your SMART goal in your road to recovery then do get in touch with us.
